Palmerstown outfit Glenville FC got the dream result in the FAI Ford Cup Third Round Draw on Monday as they were paired with Airtricity League Premier Division champions Bohemians.

David Lloyd, Glenville’s Club Secretary, was delighted to seal such a glamorous tie as they attempt to put together a memorable cup run.

"It’s unbelievable. I’m still half in shock because of the size of us,” Lloyd told Extratime.

"We were the first name out of the hat. The pub went mad. We are ten years old. We’re reformed out of an old pub team [The Silver Granite pub]. It’s just taken off from there. We joined the Leinster Senior League seven years ago and have won promotion every year and won cups.”

Lloyd is struggling to come to terms with the achievement of his club in such a short space of time. Facing Bohemians and getting a home draw in the process, it is difficult to pick a better scenario for the Palmerstown side.

"It’s just so hard to explain how small a club we are. We train in a school on Thursdays, Palmerstown Community School, we have the use of gym facilities. And we train in a public park on Tuesdays," he said.

Lloyd knows his side are up against it in the draw, however there is plenty to take from the fixture, regardless of the outcome. "The main thing is it’ll give us a few bob which will mean we can continue on," he stated.

When asked where the fixture will be played, pencilled in for the week ending June 6th, Lloyd admitted all eyes will be on Pat Fenlon’s Bohs.

"I don’t know. I’ll speak to Bohs tomorrow. But there’s no point pretending. We’ll probably go to Dalymount on a Friday,” added a delighted Lloyd.
