League Preview: Finn Harps -v- Treaty United

FINN HARPS

Finn Harps season will come to an end when they face Treaty United at Finn Park on Friday evening (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

But they play the game having missed out on a place in the playoffs.

Harps had to beat Wexford on Monday night to take the playoff race to the final day of the season but were unable to do so despite taking the lead through right-back Jamie Watson.

Watson handed the Co Donegal side a 24th-minute advantage though they were pegged back in the 38th minute when Cian O’Malley netted for the Slaneysiders.

Just moments later James Crawford was dismissed following a second yellow card.

That meant Wexford - already without Ethan Boyle and Aaron Dobbs - had to play the rest of the game with a man less.

But that mattered little when Darragh Levingston scored for Wexford on the stroke of half-time to put them 2-1 ahead.

And in the second half, Cian Curtis scored from the penalty spot to seal it for James Keddy’s troops.

TREATY UNITED

Treaty United head to Co Donegal off the back of an impressive draw against promotion contenders UCD last weekend at the Markets Field.

The Shannonsiders drew 2-2 against the Students with Yoyo Mahdy and Evan O’Connor both on target.

Though it has been a busy week at the club with the news that experienced striker Enda Curran will leave the club at the end of the season.

The striker, 32, joined Tommy Barrett’s side ahead of the 2022 campaign and fired them to an FAI Cup semi-final and promotion play-offs that season - scoring 20 goals in all competitions.

The former Mervue United, Athlone Town, Derry City, Galway United and Longford Town striker backed that up in 2023 with 14 goals scored in all competitions.

Curran has bagged 11 this season though it has been heavily impacted by injury having missed the last number of weeks.

Referee: Declan Toland.
