League Preview: Treaty United -v- UCD

TREATY UNITED

Treaty United welcome UCD to the Market’s Field on Friday evening in their final home league game of the season (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Shannonsiders picked up a valuable point away to Cork City last weekend and will be hoping that they can finish their home campaign in style when UCD visit.

“The crowds were brilliant and we are hoping to build on that,” Barrett told Limerick’s 95FM ahead of UCD’s visit.

“It’s disappointing for the fans that we didn’t bring the playoffs to the last day of the season.

“But hopefully we can kick on next year and get into a playoff.

“I’m not sure if we’re ready to go up to the Premier Division just yet but we’ll certainly be pushing for it. Hopefully we can get the infrastructure right, kick on and go full-time to challenge to get into the Premier.

“I think that’s the medium to long-term plan for sure.”

UCD

UCD played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Bray Wanderers last weekend at the Belfield Bowl.

Cristian Magerusan handed Bray a first half lead at the Dublin 4 venue but the Seagulls were pegged back midway through the second period via 19-year-old Stephen Mohan.

And Bray almost lost the game only for Students forward Hugh Parker to miss an 85th-minute spot kick for the hosts.

UCD are now all but guaranteed a top-five finish as they wait for the return of experienced midfielder Ronan Finn from suspension ahead of the season’s finale.

Referee:Mark Houlihan.
