Munster Senior League: Ringmahon Rangers continue winning streak as weather impacts action

For the first weekend this season the Irish weather had a severe impact on the weekly Munster Senior League fixture list.

All of Sunday’s clashes were called-off due to the Orange Weather Warning across Cork, something that clubs across the county hope isn’t commonplace in the weeks and months ahead.

However there was still plenty of action to discuss across the three divisions.

On Friday night Douglas Hall climbed to fourth in the Premier Division table with an impressive 2-0 victory away to Cobh Wanderers in Oldchurch Park.

Saturday saw Ringmahon Rangers extend their 100% record with a 3-1 win at UCC, Nathan Broderick scoring twice along with a Jack Cairns strike. Five wins from five has them five points clear at the top.

In the First Division the top two sides met in Glanmire as leaders Mayfield maintained their four point lead with a 2-2 draw against Riverstown. Beineón O’Brien Whitmarsh, a recent departure from Cobh Ramblers, scored the opener on his Mayfield debut.

Blarney moved up to third after a 4-3 victory at home to Leeside in O’Shea Park. Wilton and Carrigaline played out a 2-2 draw, with Liam Cronin’s finding the net for a third time in as many games.

The Second Division saw a number of ties take place.

Passage extended their lead at the top to six points with a 5-1 win at home to second placed Ballinhassig.

Youghal and Kanturk played out a 1-1 draw in Ardrath Park while Park United moved up to fourth spot with a 6-1 drubbing of Macroom in Mitchelstown.

Lastly, Kinsale and Temple played out a 2-2 draw to finish out the weekend.
