Optimistic supporters of the Girls in Green can purchase tickets for next summer’s European Championship in Switzerland from today.

UEFA launched ticket sales with an event at the iconic Jungfraujoch in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. At 3,454m above sea level, the magnificent Aletsch glacier set the stage for a match between two teams of football legends and future stars.

The Republic of Ireland women’s team must progress through a set of of play-offs to make EURO2025. First up is a play-off first round game against Georgia. The second leg of this tie has been confirmed for Tallaght Stadium on Tuesday 29th October (kick-off 19:30).

Should Ireland progress (and they did beat Georgia 11-0 in Tallaght and 9-0 away en-route to World Cup qualification) they will then play either Slovakia or Cymru in the two legged play-off final round – the winner goes to the Euros.

That home play-off game would take place in the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday 3 December (kick-off 19:30). This would be their fourth fixture at Lansdowne Road.

Ireland earned a seeded spot in these play-offs following their 1-0 win over France in the EURO qualifier. The French side managed by Herve Renard were knocked out of the Olympics at the quarter-final stage losing to eventual runners up Brazil.

With today’s first ticket release, more than 250,000 tickets for all 31 matches of the tournament are available on a first come, first served basis.

There will be 720,000 tickets on sale across a number of phases, with approximately 120,000 tickets being held back for sale to supporters of the 16 participating national teams – in close cooperation with the national associations concerned – following draw on 16 December in Lausanne, Switzerland.

This will be the first time that Switzerland will host the tournament. Matches will be played across eight venues in Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lucerne, St.Gallen, Sion, Thun and Zurich.

The opening match and the final will take place at St. Jakob-Park in Basel – Switzerland’s largest stadium.
