League Preview: Treaty United -v- Longford Town
TREATY UNITED
Treaty United host Longford Town at the Markets Field in an intriguing First Division clash (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
Treaty ran out 3-0 winners away to Munster rivals Cobh Ramblers at St Colman’s Park.
The Shannonsiders were winless in six prior to their trip to Cork but finally managed to end that barren run of results.
Lee Devitt’s brace and Nikodem Kozlowski's 48th minute strike proved crucial for Tommy Barrett’s side.
Ramblers, however, have now lost five in a row and slipped back into eighth place as a result.
For Friday’s showdown with Longford, the Shannonsiders are expected to remain with Enda Curran again through injury.
LONGFORD TOWN
Strugglers Longford turned in one of their best displays of the season last week as they picked apart promotion contenders Wexford 3-0 at Bishopsgate.
Wayne Groves’ side propped up the table for much of the season but have since moved off bottom spot by virtue of their win.
They now sit on 24 points compared to Kerry’s 23.
And they dismissed Wexford - previously nine unbeaten in all competitions - in style with Daniel Norris opening the scoring before Jordan Adeyemo grabbed a late brace off the bench.
James Keddy’s side had to play the last 15 minutes with ten-men after goalkeeper Conor Walsh was sent off by referee Eoghan O’Shea.
After Walsh was dismissed, the resulting free-kick was arrowed into the top corner by Adeyemo for the pick of the three goals. He made it three late on after a fine counter-attack from the hosts.
Longford have not issued any team news for the game.
Referee: David Dunne.
