League of Ireland clubs benefit from sports capital grants worth €4 million

Bohemians, Dundalk, Finn Harps, Kerry , Sligo Rovers, Wexford, Cork City, Waterford and St Patrick’s Athletic have all been awarded sports capital grants. 

And the nine club’s haul means that League of Ireland clubs have been granted over €4m in funding for various projects. 

Premier Division Bohemians have been granted €485,619 for works on a grass playing area, with netting and LED lighting. 

And Dundalk - who were taken over by John Temple just last week - have gained €454,228 in grants for the installation of a new pitch and floodlights at Oriel Park. 

€394,140 has been allocated to the Finn Harps Cooperative Society for an artificial pitch to help girls soccer and schools in the region. 

And fellow First Division side Kerry have claimed €387,953 for their Mounthawk Park home in Tralee. 

Sligo Rovers have also picked up grants for floodlights, astro and facilities upgrades at the Showgrounds worth €376,270. 

Wexford have been approved for €373,841 from the Community Sport Facilities fund. This funding predominantly goes towards the grassroots Centre of Excellence soon to be under construction in Enniscorthy.

Upgrades worth €227,250 have also been allotted to the Munster FA for the upgrade of Turner’s Cross, which is the home ground of Cork City.  

€145,022 of upgrades to Waterford RSC home has also been granted for public toilets upgrades and main pitch sprinklers. 



St Patrick’s Athletic have been awarded €60,000.
