League Preview: Cobh Ramblers -v- Treaty United
COBH RAMBLERS
Cobh Ramblers will be looking to avoid a fifth league defeat on the spin when they host Treaty United at St Colman’s Park on Monday evening (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
Ramblers' desperate run has seen them slip out of playoff contention and they are now in a battle with Treaty United for seventh place.
Gary Hunt’s side have also been hit with the news that key man Cian Browne has left the club in favour of a move back to Waterford junior side Villa FC, citing ‘work commitments’.
Browne spent two years with Cobh and the club said in a statement: “Cian has been a vital part of our squad, and his contributions will not be forgotten.
“While we are sad to see him go, we understand and respect his decision to prioritize his work commitments. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and look forward to seeing him excel at Villa FC.”
TREATY UNITED
Winless in their last four league games, Treaty United have a point to prove in this latest Munster derby at St Colman’s Park.
The Shannonsiders fell to a 2-1 loss at home to Athlone Town on Friday night after Dean Ebbe netted a last-gasp winner against Tommy Barrett’s side.
Athlone fell behind on Friday when Oisin O’Reilly scored for the hosts but a red card brandished to Corey Chambers in the second half turned the tide against Treaty.
It means that Treaty remain in eighth place.
In team news, Chambers will miss out on the trip to Cobh with suspension while striker Enda Curran is expected to remain out again through injury.
Referee: Glen Geraghty.
