FAI Cup Preview: Wexford -v- Treaty United

WEXFORD

There is guaranteed to be a First Division representative in the semi-finals of the FAI Cup as Wexford host Treaty United in the last eight of the competition on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Slaneysiders are in fine form at the moment and have won their last six games in a row in all competitions.

That run of results has seen them defeat league rivals Finn Harps (2-0), Athlone Town (3-2 & 2-1), Treaty United (3-1) and Cobh Ramblers (2-1).

But they are yet to defeat league opposition in the FAI Cup this season, having defeated Wayside Celtic (3-1) and Ballyfermot United (3-0) in the previous rounds of the competition.

This has set up a crunch clash against Treaty United with a spot in the last four of the FAI Cup on offer for the victors.

Wexford have not issued any team news for the game.

TREATY UNITED

Winless in their last three league outings, Treaty United visit Ferrycarrig Park with a point to prove.

The Shannonsiders lost 3-1 at home to Wexford in the last meeting between the teams but did win 1-0 on their last visit to the South-East.

But they won on that occasion without having a crippling injury list.

For their shot at making the last four of the FAI Cup, Treaty are likely to be without the services of  Lee J Lynch, Yoyo Mahdy. Lee Devitt and Thomas Considine for the game.

Should Treaty be victorious, they would reach a second FAI Cup semi-final in their four-year long history, having reached the same stage during the 2022 season.
