Champions Lucan United snapped a two-game losing streak to claim their first three points of the season with a 2-0 triumph over Bangor Celtic.

Keith Baker’s side were defeated by Usher Celtic and Kilbarrack United in their opening two fixtures but reacted well to their setback.

And they did so with former Bluebell United man Jack Savage making his debut.

Goals from Darragh McConville and Anthony Kavanagh got them over the line, moving them up to ninth in the table.

Newly-promoted UCD had to wait for their first game of the season but it was worth the wait as they ran out 2-1 victors against Usher Celtic at home.

The Students, although, had to wait before winning out after Jordan Buckley cancelled out Louis Dignam’s opener for the Sky Blues.

But Andreas Djurhuus netted an 86th minute spot-kick to get his side over the line in the battle of the promoted teams.

Kilbarrack United also put on a late show to down Killester Donnycarney at Hadden Park.

Ross Carrig’s side fell behind to the 2020 FAI Intermediate Cup finalists early through Cian Whelan.

But second-half goals from Jimmy McHugh and Gavin Carroll turned the tide in their favour to keep their early hold of top spot.

Bluebell United too came from behind to beat Glebe North at the Red Cow.

Former Athlone Town and Cabinteely attacker Ollie Hamzat handed Glebe a first half lead.

But goals in the 82nd and 88th minute from Leon Hayes and Jamie Greene won it for the Bell.

Meanwhile, St Mochta’s won 2-0 away to Maynooth Town on Friday night.

Tyler Doherty and Michael Scott were both on target for Brian McCarthy’s men – with Maynooth’s Paddy O’Sullivan sent off late on.

And at John Hyland Park, St Francis brushed past Malahide United 2-0 as Jack O’Reilly and Sean McManus both netted.
