Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Jadon Sancho on a loan deal from Manchester United, with a commitment to make the move permanent next summer.

"I'm really excited to be here. London is where I grew up and I'm happy to be back," said Sancho.

Reflecting on his move, he added, "The manager spoke to me about the project and, for a young player, it's exciting. Hopefully, I can bring goals and assists to the Bridge."

Sancho, who started his football journey at Watford, moved to Manchester City at 14 before making a significant career leap to Borussia Dortmund three years later.

In Germany, he emerged as one of Europe’s most promising wingers, amassing 137 appearances and winning the 2019 DFL Supercup and the 2021 DFB-Pokal. His performance at Dortmund also earned him 18 caps for the England national team.

In the summer of 2021, Sancho made a high-profile move to Manchester United following his participation in the European Championship with England.

During his initial season at Old Trafford, he featured in 38 matches and scored five goals, including one against Chelsea in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Despite a mixed spell in Manchester, Sancho's talent was evident during a brief return to Dortmund on loan, where he helped the team reach the Champions League final against Real Madrid at Wembley.
