Salford City announce three new signings
Salford City have added to their squad with three new signings. Frankie Okoronkwo on loan from Everton, Kylian Kouassi on loan from Blackpool, and Haji Mnoga on a permanent deal from Portsmouth.
19-year-old forward Frankie Okoronkwo joins Salford on a season-long loan from Everton. Okoronkwo made a name for himself in Premier League 2, scoring 10 goals in 39 appearances over the past two seasons. The former Sunderland player, who impressed during a pre-season fixture between Salford and Everton, is eager to make his mark in the EFL.
“I’m buzzing,” Okoronkwo said. “As soon as this was on the cards, I thought it’s a good challenge, I really want to come and play and impress the fans.”
Kylian Kouassi, a 21-year-old striker from Blackpool, has also joined Salford on loan for the season. Kouassi, who came through the academy at Sutton United, scored five goals in 24 appearances for Blackpool last season before an injury cut his campaign short. He is keen to show his capabilities at The Peninsula Stadium.
“I’m happy to be here, I can’t wait to get started,” Kouassi shared. “I’m a hard-working striker that brings energy... I’m excited to come here and get going.”
Additionally, Salford have secured the services of defender Haji Mnoga on a one-year contract. Mnoga, who left Portsmouth in the summer, spent last season on loan at Aldershot, helping them to an eighth-place finish in the National League. The 22-year-old, who has also represented Tanzania internationally, is enthusiastic about his new challenge with Salford.
“It feels really, really good,” Mnoga said. “I’m looking forward to kicking on and doing well... I’m a defender who likes defending but I also like getting forward and contributing to attacks for the team.”
