Ireland international Mikey Johnston joins West Brom on four-year deal from Celtic
West Bromwich Albion have secured the permanent signing of Mikey Johnston from Celtic. The Republic of Ireland international, who turned 25 in April, is the club's 10th addition of the summer transfer window.
Johnston, who has earned 11 caps for his country, made a strong impression during his loan spell with the Baggies last season, scoring seven goals in 20 appearances.
The winger expressed his excitement about returning to the club, stating, "I'm really happy to be here. Driving down the M6 last night I couldn't stop smiling and I'm buzzing to be here."
Reflecting on his time at the club, Johnston added, "From day one here I got off to a really good start, the fans took to me, and I took to them right away. I felt the love the full time I was here last year and I'm just buzzing to be back."
Head Coach Carlos Corberán welcomed Johnston's return, emphasising the player's impact and potential.
"Mikey is a player who needs no introduction to this club, and I am happy he is back with us," Corberán said.
"The impact he made with us last season cannot be underestimated and he adds proven quality to our squad. At just 25 his best years are still ahead of him, and this is a signing which shows the long-term ambitions of our club."
