Third placed Cork City Foras Co-op welcome league leaders Derry City to Turners Cross this Friday evening. (kick off 7.45pm)

Derry come into the game on the back of eight consecutive league wins while City are unbeaten in three games.

Gearóid Morrissey is sidelined, having picked up a groin injury just 20 minutes into his club debut. Cillian Lordan, Davin O’Neill and Stephen Mulcahy expect to be fit despite picking up knocks in the past couple of days. Full-back Uros Hojan returned to first team action against Limerick and is also available for selection.

“It will be a tough game, but with our strongest starting out, we’d give anybody a match. It’s something we said in the dressing room on Tuesday night; the Limerick game is over now and we have to get ourselves back moving,” Cork City boss Tommy Dunne said.

“We’re lucky it’s a big game. We’ve got to start well and if we do that we should be okay. It should be easier to get ourselves moving and motivated, but there’s also no excuse for what happened in the first 45 minutes against Limerick. I’m afraid that our strength in depth is not there”, Dunne said.

“I think they are a great team and will win the league outright being honest. They are the strongest team but I think we’ll have a good go off them and could get the three points at home. They have a long trip down so we might catch them and get the win hopefully”, defender Stephen Mulcahy said.

Since losing to Waterford United in March Derry City have been unstoppable scoring 24 goals along the way, including seven against Salthill, five against Wexford and four against Mervue.

In the clubs previous encounter this season, the sides drew 1-1 with Davin O’Neill and Emmett Friars both getting on the score sheet.
