Bristol Rovers have announced the loan signing of 19-year-old striker Gatlin O’Donkor from Oxford United.

O’Donkor, who will join the team for the remainder of the 2024/25 season, becomes the club's fifteenth signing of the summer and fifth loan acquisition.

Expressing his excitement about the move, O’Donkor said, “It feels amazing to be a Bristol Rovers player. I can’t wait to get out there and show people what I can do. Speaking with the manager, I feel the way he wants to play really suits me.”

O’Donkor's career so far includes stints in the National League with Oxford City and Barnet.

Reflecting on the club's reputation, O’Donkor added, “Bristol Rovers have always been a tough place to go. The fans are always backing the team, and they make it difficult for opponents. I can’t wait to be a part of that.”

Rovers' manager Matt Taylor is looking forward to working with the young forward.

“We are pleased to welcome Gatlin to the club,” said Taylor. “Despite his young age, Gatlin already has good experience in the EFL and showed his potential during a loan spell in the National League last season. We are looking forward to helping him develop further this season.”

O’Donkor signed his first professional contract with Oxford United in August 2022.

Reflecting on his goals for the season, O’Donkor stated, “I just want to give 100 per cent every game and score as many goals as I can. Promotion is the end goal for every team in the league, so we’ll see how that goes.”
