FINN HARPS

Struggling Finn Harps host Cobh Ramblers at Finn Park on Friday looking to save their season (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Co Donegal side have lost their last five league games on the trot and are now six points behind fifth-placed Wexford in the race for the playoffs.

Now seventh and one point behind Cobh, any further slip ups could prove to be fatal for Darren Murphy’s side.

Harps have also been halted by injuries, with goalkeeper Tim Heimer missing last week’s 1-0 loss away to UCD.

But boss Murphy told the Irish News: “I have said to the players that you can either re-group and go again and give yourselves a fighting chance of getting into the play-offs or you can just see the season out.”

COBH RAMBLERS

Cobh Ramblers will have to make do without the services of captain Jason Abbott for their trip to Donegal on Friday night through suspension.

The midfielder was dismissed in last week’s narrow 1-0 loss at home to leaders Cork City.

But there were plenty of positives for Ramblers boss Gary Hunt to take from the game having played most of it with a man less.

The St Colman’s Park outfit have also won two of their last three league games and are just five points behind Wexford who occupy the last playoff position.

And with a crunch clash with the Slaneysiders to come at home next weekend, a win away to Harps would their hopes of a top-five finish the world of good.

Referee: Daryl Carolan.
