Usher Celtic maintained their winning start to their debut campaign in the top-flight of the Leinster Senior League with a 2-1 triumph over defending champions Lucan United.

Usher raced out of the traps this term with an opening day win against St Mochta’s.

And they backed it up on Wednesday evening away from home against Keith Baker’s side.

Leroy Staunton handed Usher a 13th minute lead and they remained in front until the early stages of the second half when Jamie Doyle levelled for the hosts after 54 minutes.

But former Shelbourne and Bray Wanderers man Sean Quinn was given his marching orders on the hour to hand Usher the initiative.

And they took advantage of their numerical supremacy as Jordan Buckley won the game late on.

Bangor Celtic also claimed their second win on the spin, seeing off newly-promoted Glebe North 3-2.

John Scott’s won a thriller against Wayside Celtic on Sunday with a 4-3 triumph - scoring two late goals - and they produced the goods at the death again against Glebe.

Troy Stedman handed the Crumlin side an early lead when he netted after seven minutes.

They looked home and hosed on the hour when Hezekiah Okirikpho doubled Bangor’s lead but Glebe rallied and scored twice in six minutes through Sean Uduehi and Ricardo Sousa Cardoso Almeida to restore parity.

But they were thwarted in the fifth minute of second half injury time by former Cabinteely attacker Jordan Andre who bagged the winner.

Elsewhere, Wayside Celtic ran out 2-1 victors over Bluebell United at Jackson Park.

Two penalties from Darragh O’Connor and Dylan O’Connor either side Joshua Ojelabi’s spot-kick was enough for the South Dubliners to get over the line.

Meanwhile, St Mochta’s edged past St Francis 1-0 at Porterstown Road on Tuesday evening with Gareth McCaffrey scoring the only goal.
