Brentford have completed the signing of 18-year-old forward Gustavo Nunes from Brazilian club Grêmio.

Nunes has signed a six-year contract with an option for a further two years.

Head coach Thomas Frank expressed his enthusiasm for the new signing, stating, "I am very excited that we have managed to sign Gustavo. It is another good signing; we have fought with other clubs."

Frank highlighted Nunes’ abilities on the pitch, describing him as "a winger who can go past players one-on-one. He is direct and he can create."

Born in southern Brazil, Nunes joined Grêmio's youth academy at the age of 15 in 2021. He quickly made a name for himself in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship, helping his team reach the final.

His progress continued as he played a role in Grêmio’s unbeaten run in the Under-20 State Championship and their journey to the final of the Brazilian Cup in the same age category.

Nunes made his senior debut for Grêmio in February 2024, coming off the bench to provide an assist in a 1-1 draw against São Luiz in the Série A.

Just six days later, he scored his first goal in a 6-2 win over Santa Cruz. In total, the young forward made 20 appearances in the Brazilian top flight, scoring three goals and assisting once.

Frank believes Nunes has significant potential and is eager to develop his talent further.

"Gustavo has a lot of potential, and of course, we need to maximise that in every aspect. He needs time to settle, but this is a very exciting signing," he added.
