West Ham's Freddie Potts joins Portsmouth on loan
West Ham United's midfielder, Freddie Potts, has moved to Portsmouth on a season-long loan.
The 20-year-old will spend the 2024/25 campaign with the EFL Championship club, continuing his development under manager John Mousinho.
Last season, Potts enjoyed a successful loan at League One side Wycombe Wanderers, where his performances earned him the Player of the Year award.
He played a role in helping Wycombe reach the EFL Trophy final at Wembley Stadium, although they narrowly missed out on the title.
Portsmouth manager John Mousinho expressed his excitement about the new addition, stating, "Freddie has been a target for us throughout the summer and so we’re delighted to bring him in. He enjoyed an extremely positive season out on loan last season and was probably one of the outstanding players at that level."
Mousinho added, "He’s had an encouraging pre-season back with West Ham and I’m really excited to work with him. Freddie is a gifted, technical midfielder and has good physical attributes. I think he’ll fit right into our system."
Potts, an academy graduate, joined West Ham at the age of six and signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2021. He has made three senior appearances for West Ham, including in European competitions such as the UEFA Europa Conference League.
