Derby County sign Tawanda Chirewa on loan from Wolves
Derby County have secured the loan signing of 20-year-old attacking midfielder Tawanda Chirewa from Wolverhampton Wanderers for the 2024/25 season.
The arrival of Chirewa, who has represented Zimbabwe at the international level, marks Derby's ninth signing in this transfer window.
He joins a list of new recruits that includes Ben Osborn, Kayden Jackson, Jerry Yates, Kenzo Goudmijn, Ebou Adams, David Ozoh, Rohan Luthra, and Jacob Widell Zetterstrom.
Chirewa's career began at Ipswich Town. He debuted at just 16 years old in a match against Colchester United in the EFL Trophy in November 2019. After a brief stint at Ipswich, where he made two more senior appearances in the 2022/23 season, Chirewa moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2023.
At Wolves, Chirewa initially played for the Under-21s, scoring five goals in seven Premier League 2 matches.
His performances earned him a spot in the senior squad, where he made ten appearances during the 2023/24 season, including matches in the Premier League and FA Cup.
Internationally, Chirewa has played for Zimbabwe, earning two caps. He made his debut in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho in June and scored his first international goal shortly after in a match against South Africa.
