Wexford teenager Oisin McDonagh joins Serie A side Venezia
First Division side Wexford have confirmed the departure of defender Oisin McDonagh for Serie A side Venezia.
The Italian side recently had Ireland international Aaron Connolly on their books on loan and have taken another foray into the Irish market.
Venezia won promotion back to the top-flight in Italy last year.
And they have since moved for McDonagh who made his senior debut for the Slaneysiders earlier this month.
The 16-year-old was also part of Wexford’s under-17 and under-20 sides this season.
“It’s a very important milestone for our academy,” Wexford Head of Football Operations John Godkin said. “It demonstrates the great strides we are making as a club and the importance of our underage squads reaching the elite stages of the national leagues.
“We look forward to monitoring and following Oisin’s progress in the coming years.”
