Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of 25-year-old defender David Carmo from FC Porto. Carmo has signed a five-year contract with Forest but will spend the 2024/25 season on loan at Olympiacos.

David Carmo played primarily in the Portuguese Primeira Liga for S.C. Braga and FC Porto. Last season, he was on loan at Olympiacos, where he played in their victorious UEFA Europa Conference League campaign.

Carmo began his professional career at S.C. Braga, where he made 57 appearances across all competitions. He was part of the squad that won the Taça de Portugal in the 2020/21 season.

He later moved to his hometown club, FC Porto, making 27 appearances and helping them secure the Portuguese Cup in 2023.

In addition to his domestic success, Carmo has extensive experience in European competitions. He has featured nine times in the UEFA Champions League and Europa Conference League for FC Porto and Olympiacos, and he has 11 UEFA Europa League appearances with S.C. Braga.

On his international career, Carmo was also a member of Portugal’s Under-19 team that won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2018.
