Millwall sign Daniel Kelly from Celtic
Millwall have announced the signing of 18-year-old Scottish midfielder Daniel Kelly from Celtic. Kelly becomes the club's seventh acquisition of the summer.
The midfielder, who caught the eye of several clubs over the summer, made six appearances for Celtic's first team during the 2023/24 season.
His performances for Celtic’s B team and contributions in the UEFA Youth League lead to his inclusion in the senior squad by manager Brendan Rodgers.
Kelly also played in Celtic's successful Glasgow Cup campaign in 2023 and scored his debut goal in the Scottish Premiership against Dundee.
Steve Gallen, Millwall's Director of Football, expressed his excitement over the new signing: "Daniel is a player that has been on the club’s radar for some time and highlighted to me upon my arrival."
He continued, "It’s been no secret that he’s attracted a lot of interest. We’ve been working on this deal all summer, and we’re delighted that he sees his long-term future with Millwall."
Gallen further elaborated on the club’s strategy, stating, "He’s exactly the type of profile we want to bring in. He’s a young box-to-box midfielder, athletic, dynamic, and I feel he has a bright future and can add real quality to the squad. Our aim and vision is to create assets for this football club and bring in younger players, as well as promoting players from our Academy."
