Brighton have secured the signing of Jelena Cankovic from Chelsea.

Cankovic, an attacking midfielder, has enjoyed a successful stint at Chelsea, contributing to the club's back-to-back Women's Super League titles over the past two seasons. During her time with the Blues, she made 38 appearances across all competitions, including the Champions League.

Beginning her professional career in 2013, Cankovic has built an impressive resume with multiple clubs. She has won titles in Serbia with Spartak Subotica, in Spain with Barcelona, and in Hungary with Ferencvaros.

After her time in Hungary, she moved to Swedish club Vaxjo, where she played a role in their promotion to the top-flight in 2017. She then joined Rosengard, setting a record for the highest transfer fee between Swedish clubs, and played Champions League football before moving to England.

On the international stage, Cankovic has been a key player for Serbia since her debut in 2013, earning over 50 caps.

On the men's side, Valentin Barco is set to join Sevilla on a season-long loan.

Men's first team head coach, Fabian Hurzeler, sees this as a valuable opportunity for the young midfielder.

"Valentin made good progress with us last season and this is a great opportunity for him to go and get experience and minutes with one of the top clubs in Spain in a very competitive environment," Hurzeler stated.

Barco, who joined Brighton from Boca Juniors in January 2024, made seven appearances in all competitions last season and debuted in the Premier League in March against Liverpool.

He earned his first cap for Argentina earlier this year against El Salvador.
