Leicester City sign Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace
Leicester City have confirmed the signing of Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace on a two-year contract.
The 32-year-old striker brings a wealth of experience, having played for several clubs in both the Premier League and Ligue 1, as well as for the Ghana national team.
Ayew, who has made 212 appearances for Crystal Palace over six seasons, expressed his enthusiasm about joining Leicester City.
"I’m very happy to be here and I’m proud. I want to thank the Club as they fought hard to bring me here – it happened quickly and I’m so happy to be here," he said in an interview with LCFC.com.
The Ghanaian forward, who began his professional career at Marseille, has had a varied career across several clubs.
After his time with Marseille, where he scored 14 goals in 111 league appearances, Ayew had stints with FC Sochaux and FC Lorient before moving to Aston Villa in 2015. He finished the 2015/16 season as Villa’s top scorer before moving to Swansea City in 2017.
At Swansea, Ayew made 50 appearances and scored eight goals. He later joined Crystal Palace, initially on loan, before signing permanently. During the 2019/20 season at Palace, he was named Player of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season, and won Goal of the Season. He leaves Crystal Palace having scored 23 goals for the club.
Internationally, Ayew has been a significant player for Ghana, earning over 100 caps since his debut in 2010. He has played in two FIFA World Cups and six Africa Cup of Nations, helping Ghana to a runner-up finish in 2015.
