Fulham have officially signed Danish defender Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace, marking his return to the club after a successful loan spell in the 2020/21 season.

Andersen has agreed to a contract that will keep him at Fulham until the summer of 2029, with an option for an additional year.

Reflecting on his return, Andersen expressed his excitement: "It’s really nice to be here. Feels a little bit like coming home, so it’s a good feeling."

He added, "I know the club, I know how Fulham are playing, I know many players, I know some staff, so I didn’t need anyone to convince me because I knew a lot of things already."

Andersen's familiarity with Fulham's playing style and personnel played a significant role in his decision to rejoin the club.

"I had some good talks with the manager," Andersen explained.

"I know the playing style he likes to play, so it was just a decision I needed to make myself, with my wife and family, and see what’s the best for me, and I think this is a good step for my career."

Andersen will wear the number 5 shirt, the same number he wore during his previous stint at Fulham.

He made a strong impression during his loan spell, captaining the side in 17 Premier League matches and coming second in the club’s Player of the Season vote, despite Fulham’s relegation.

Before his time at Fulham, Andersen built a solid reputation across Europe. He began his career at Dutch club Twente, where he made his debut as an 18-year-old and went on to make 49 appearances.

He then moved to Sampdoria in Italy, becoming a key player and earning recognition as one of Serie A's top young defenders. His performances caught the eye of Lyon, who signed him for a club-record fee. Andersen's stint at Lyon included a run to the semi-finals of the Champions League and the French Cup.

Andersen's permanent move to Fulham comes after three productive seasons with Crystal Palace, where he made 113 appearances.

Internationally, Andersen has been capped 36 times by Denmark and has featured in major tournaments including Euro 2020, World Cup 2022, and Euro 2024.
