Sunderland have announced the signing of Wilson Isidor. The 23-year-old forward joins the club on loan from FC Zenit Saint Petersburg for the 2024-25 season. The agreement includes an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the campaign.

Expressing his excitement about the move, Isidor said, "I’m so happy to be here and sign for Sunderland. It is an amazing club with a huge fanbase – and when a club like that wants you, it feels amazing. I didn’t hesitate."

"It was a natural decision. I always knew Sunderland was a big Club, so I can’t wait to get started and to see the Stadium of Light full. Hopefully, I can get the fans chanting my name.”

Isidor’s journey to Sunderland follows a season on loan with Zenit, where he contributed to the team’s triumph in the Russian Premier League, Russian Cup, and Russian Super Cup. Although he only moved to Saint Petersburg permanently earlier this summer, the French-born forward has already scored two goals in five substitute appearances this season.

Born in France, Isidor began his career at Rennes under the guidance of Régis Le Bris before moving to Monaco in 2018, where he made his senior debut.

He also had loan spells with Stade Lavallois and FC Borgo. His time in Russia started with Lokomotiv Moscow in January 2022, where he made an immediate impact by scoring in each of his first six appearances, equalling a league record.

He was recognised as the Russian Premier League’s Player of the Month in April 2022 and finished his spell with Lokomotiv with 19 goals in 42 appearances.
