League Preview: Cobh Ramblers -v- Cork City

COBH RAMBLERS

Cobh Ramblers will be looking to keep their play-off hopes alive when they welcome Cork City to St Colman’s Park on Friday evening (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Ramblers claimed an important win against Kerry a fortnight ago to move to within two points of fifth-placed Wexford.

But they were fallow last week following their exit to the Kingdom in the second-round of the FAI Cup last month.

So far this season, Ramblers have played their Cork rivals three times and lost by a three-goal margin on each occasion.

The first defeat saw them lose 3-0 away before losing by the same score at home. They were swept aside 4-1 the last time the pair met at Turner’s Cross.

Cobh have not issued any team news for Friday’s game.

CORK CITY

Runaway First Division leaders Cork City need just 13 more points to win the title and secure promotion back to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

The Leesiders are 15 points clear of second-placed Athlone Town and know they are closing in on a resounding title success.

Their cause has also been aided by the return of strikers Ruairi Keating and Seani Maguire to the club in recent weeks.

But they will be licking their wounds following a narrow FAI Cup defeat to Derry City last weekend, losing 1-0 at home.

Although, there was enough in that performance to suggest they will easily see off Cobh Ramblers again this weekend.
