League Preview: Treaty United -v- Wexford

TREATY UNITED

Treaty United know the importance of getting a result against Wexford if they are to keep their slim hopes of claiming a play-off spot alive (kick-off on Friday night is at 7.45pm).

The Shannonsiders are three points behind Wexford in the table and know they can ill-afford any more costly defeats against play-off rivals.

And Tommy Barrett’s side come into the game in fine fettle after easing past Pike Rovers in the FAI Cup last weekend, winning 7-0.

They also claimed a straightforward 4-1 win over First Division basement side Longford Town a fortnight ago.

But they will be without Fionn Doherty through suspension against Wexford.

WEXFORD

First Division Wexford will also be in buoyant mood after reaching the least-eight of the FAI Cup last weekend.

And the reward for James Keddy’s side easing past Leinster Senior League side Ballyfermot United is a quarter-final tie against tonight’s opponents Treaty United next month at Ferrycarrig Park.

But they know they have important matters to deal with in the league first, starting with this clash against Treaty United at the Markets Field.

A win would put them six points clear of Treaty heading into the final eight games of the season, which would be a kind buffer to have.

Referee: Lucas Keating.
