Hull City have announced the signing of Ivorian forward Chris Bedia on a season-long loan from Union Berlin, marking their 10th addition of the summer transfer window. The agreement includes an option for the Tigers to purchase the 28-year-old permanently next summer.

Bedia, a towering 6’3” striker, brings a wealth of experience from his time in European football, having played for clubs in France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Germany.

Bedia thrived in the Swiss Super League with Servette, where he scored 31 goals in 68 appearances, playing a role in their 2023/24 Swiss Cup triumph.

The forward’s journey began in France's Ligue 2, where he turned out for Tours, Troyes, and Sochaux, scoring 12 goals during his stints.

He also had spells in Belgium with Charleroi and Zulte Waregem before moving to Germany, where he made seven appearances for Union Berlin.

Last season, Bedia featured in four Champions League qualifiers and six Europa League group stage matches, finding the net against teams like Genk, Rangers, Sheriff Tiraspol, and Roma.

Expressing his excitement about joining Hull City, Bedia said: “I’m happy to be here and I will try my best to score a lot of goals. I want to perform very well here, be happy and make the supporters happy too.”

He added that he looks forward to working on his fitness and finding the back of the net regularly, emphasising his style of play: “I like to take the ball and play with the midfielders, a lot of movement close to the box.”

Bedia also shared insights into his conversation with Hull City’s manager, Tim Walter, before making the move: “I spoke to Tim Walter before coming here, and he told me to find good places in the box because I will receive a lot of balls from the left and right wingers.”

Having represented Ivory Coast at various youth levels, Bedia was part of the squad that won the African Under-17 Championship in 2013.
