Atlético de Madrid have confirmed the signing of England international Conor Gallagher from Chelsea on a five-year contract, securing his services until 2029.

The 24-year-old midfielder developed through Chelsea's academy since the age of eight.

Gallagher’s rise in English football saw him gain valuable experience through a series of loan spells across the Championship and Premier League.

His first significant impact came during a loan to Charlton Athletic in 2019, where he scored six goals and provided four assists in 26 appearances.

Following this, he enjoyed successful stints at Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion, and Crystal Palace.

At Palace, Gallagher was named Player of the Season after an impressive campaign that saw him net eight goals and register five assists in 39 appearances.

In 2022, Gallagher made his senior debut for Chelsea, eventually making 95 appearances, scoring 10 goals, and contributing 10 assists for the club.

His consistent performances at the club level also earned him a spot in the England national team, where he debuted in November 2021.

Gallagher was part of England’s squads for the 2022 World Cup and this year’s European Championship, where England reached the final.
