LSL Senior Sunday wrap: Maynooth Town and Wayside Celtic kick off campaigns with wins
Maynooth Town began their LSL Senior Sunday season with a hard-fought 2-0 triumph over Tolka Rovers on Tuesday night.
The Kildare side rallied at the end of last term to comfortably ensure survival - and they have started as they mean to go on.
And they had to do it the hard way with former Drogheda United prospect Dylan Molloy dismissed after just 10 minutes.
But striker Paddy O’Sullivan - formerly of Longford Town - gave them the lead just before the half-hour mark when he netted in the 27th minute.
Maynooth doubled their advantage on the hour with Lewis McKeon also scoring.
The night went from bad to worse for Tolka Rovers with Tyrick Reilly sent off in the 67th minute after picking up two yellow cards.

Elsewhere, Wayside Celtic recorded a 2-1 win over Malahide United at Jackson Park.
Ross Zambra’s side - who reached the second round proper of the FAI Cup - played against ten men for the entirety of the second half after Malahide keeper Brian Kane was sent off.
But all of the goals came during the first-half in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains.
Malahide, who were able to recruit former St Patrick’s Athletic and Longford Town attacker Sam Verdon during the off-season, took the lead in the 14th minute through former Dundalk midfielder Jake O’Connor.
But Darragh O’Connor levelled matters for Wayside just nine minutes later.
And Eimhin Boylan then scored what proved to be the winner three minutes before the break.
All three points from a competitive first game of the LSL Senior Sunday 2024/25 season!

Newly-promoted Glebe North also claimed a late draw against Kilbarrack United at their Market Green home on Tuesday evening.
The FAI Intermediate Cup champions were always going to provide Kilbarrack with a stern test of their credentials.
But Glebe - who are managed by Darius Kierans - had to come from behind twice.
Deiric Hyland opened the scoring for Kilbarrack after 26 minutes.
Glebe skipper Reece Weldon put his side on level terms in the 68th minute.
Former Usher Celtic man Jimmy McHugh thought he won it for Ross Carrig’s men 11 minutes from time when he struck.
But Glebe had the final say with Sean Uduehi securing a point in the third minute of additional time.
