Ipswich Town have completed the signing of Swedish international midfielder Jens Cajuste on a loan deal from Napoli, which will keep him at Portman Road until the end of the season.

Cajuste, 25, began his professional career at Swedish club Örgryte before moving to FC Midtjylland in Denmark in 2018.

During his four-year tenure at the Danish club, he secured two Danish Cup victories and a Danish Superliga title.

Following his success in Denmark, Cajuste spent a season in Ligue 1 with Reims before joining Napoli in August 2023.

Last season, he made 26 appearances in Serie A.

This summer, Cajuste added two more caps for Sweden, featuring in matches against Denmark and Serbia. The midfielder has now represented his national team 23 times at the senior level.

Cajuste also brings valuable European experience to Ipswich, having competed in the UEFA Champions League with both FC Midtjylland and Napoli.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Cajuste told TownTV, "This feels great and I’m happy to be here. It took a little while with the negotiations but I’m finally here and I’m very excited."

He added, "I’ve had great conversations with the manager and this seems like a very interesting project. It’s an ambitious club and a team that is progressing. I’m a player that works hard and I want to contribute in attack and defence. I want to play as much as possible and I’ll be looking to get some good tackles in!"

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna shared his thoughts on the new signing, saying, "We’re really happy to add Jens to the squad. He gives us another different profile to our midfield and puts us in a strong position in that department. Jens has a lot of experience across top leagues in Europe and in international football. He brings good physical and technical qualities to the squad and he is a very dedicated and committed professional."
