Northampton Town have bolstered their midfield options with the season-long loan signing of Samy Chouchane from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 20-year-old French-born Tunisian has previously represented Tunisia at the under-20 level and has also been involved with the senior national team during training camps.

Chouchane, who is set to turn 21 next month, recently extended his contract with Brighton in December.

He has been a regular on the bench for some of Brighton’s Europa League fixtures and played a key role in helping the Seagulls' under-21 side reach the quarter-finals of last season’s Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

Manager Jon Brady expressed his enthusiasm about the new addition to the squad, highlighting Chouchane’s technical skills and potential.

"Samy is a ball-playing, passing midfielder," said Brady. "He has risen through the levels at Brighton to be involved with the first-team squad, and we have been impressed with his attitude, his ability, and his progression."

Brady also emphasised the strong relationship between Northampton Town and Brighton, which facilitated this loan move.

"As supporters will know, we have an excellent relationship with Brighton, there is a lot of trust there and we thank them for allowing us to add Samy to the squad."
