Drogheda United - Playing for Life
Drogheda United FC is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Irish charity Playing For Life. This new relationship will see the charity's logo on the front of the League of Ireland champions' jerseys, as the club aims to develop its social responsibility.
Chairman of Drogheda United, Vincent Hoey, is delighted with the announcement, saying that "Playing For life is a wonderful organisation, dedicated to improving the lives of others, and we are delighted to be associated with it. Football clubs have a lot of influence in society today, and we are thrilled to do what we can to raise the awareness of this great charity."
The Playing For Life logo will be emblazoned on the front of the senior men's team jerseys, and on all replica jerseys sold at the official Drogheda United Store. Drogheda United will also work with the charity to support and promote its work around the world.
Playing For Life is a registered charity, based in Co. Kildare. It works towards the relief, assistance and empowerment of people in need, in less developed areas of the world, through sport & vocational training. Previous and ongoing projects include the building of a skills training college in Malawi, a sports and training centre in Tanzania, and assisting AIDS orphans in Kenya, all with the invaluable assistance of Irish volunteers. GAA All-stars Eoin Liston, Henry Shefflin and Robbie O'Malley have all worked on projects with the charity in the past, and Drogheda United hopes to increase the charity's profile over the course of the year.
