FAI Cup Preview: Treaty United -v- Pike Rovers

TREATY UNITED

First Division Treaty United welcome Limerick rivals Pike Rovers to the Markets Field on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

Tommy Barrett’s side have enjoyed an impressive run of results in recent weeks and come into this local derby following a 4-1 destruction of Longford Town last weekend.

Striker Enda Curran scored a hat-trick for the First Division playoff contenders, with Lee Devitt also on target.

But the victory came at a cost with Leon Kirrane dismissed late on after picking up two yellow cards. He will now miss the tie against Pike Rovers.

Treaty were penalty shootout winners over Leinster Senior League side Kilbarrack United in the last round of the competition.

PIKE ROVERS

Pike Rovers, led by former Limerick FC defender and player-manager Robbie Williams, began their FAI Cup campaign with a penalty shootout win over Villa FC in the first round.

Adam Lipper scored their only goal of the game as they eventually saw off their Waterford opponents.

They then saw off Munster Senior League side Midleton in the second round, winning 3-1. Shane Clarke, Dylan Murphy and Shane Walsh were all on target.

Pike Rovers also reached the semi-final of the FAI Junior Cup last season before falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat against eventual winners Cockhill Celtic at home.
