Chesterfield have bolstered their squad with the addition of two promising young talents on season-long loans. Winger Dilan Markanday arrives from Blackburn Rovers, while centre-back Harvey Araujo joins from Fulham.

Markanday, a 22-year-old winger, is eager to make an impact at Chesterfield.

“I’m really excited; I can’t wait to get going in front of the fans,” he said.

Reflecting on his new surroundings, he added, “I’ve met all of the boys – they’re all top. It’s a really exciting time at the club, and I can’t wait.”

Markanday's journey began in the Tottenham Hotspur academy, where he debuted appearing in a Europa Conference League game against Vitesse in October 2021.

He moved to Blackburn Rovers in January 2022, where he has since made 35 appearances, scoring five goals. Last season, he had a loan spell at Aberdeen, and now he’s ready to take on a new challenge with the Spireites.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old centre-back Harvey Araujo has made the switch from Fulham, reuniting with his academy teammate Devan Tanton, who also joined Chesterfield on loan last week.

Araujo, who has been with Fulham since the age of 12, shared his thoughts on joining Chesterfield: “I saw the Derby game and I was really impressed. It was a very good performance. The fans are also really good.”

Araujo believes his existing connection with Tanton will ease his transition into senior football.

“It probably gives me a lot more confidence, having him as a team-mate here. We’ve had that connection for three years at Fulham. I’m just here to play games and be the best player I can,” he explained.

Both Markanday and Araujo are expected to be in contention for Chesterfield’s upcoming match against Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.
