Bournemouth have secured the signing of Julián Araujo from FC Barcelona, marking their fifth addition of the summer transfer window. The 23-year-old right-back has agreed to a five-year contract.

Neill Blake, the club’s Chief Executive, expressed his enthusiasm for the new signing, noting that Araujo has been on their radar for some time.

"Julián is someone who we have tracked for a while now and we’re delighted to bring him to AFC Bournemouth," Blake stated.

He emphasised Araujo's potential and the competitive nature of securing his signature, adding, "We’re pleased to have beaten lots of competition for his signature."

Araujo’s arrival follows an impressive loan spell at Las Palmas, where he made 25 appearances and played a role in helping the newly-promoted side maintain their position in La Liga.

Prior to his move to Europe, Araujo began his professional career with LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer, amassing over 100 appearances before transferring to Barcelona in 2023.

On the international stage, Araujo is a full Mexico international, having been part of the squad that won the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup and finished third in the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League finals.

AFC Bournemouth believe Araujo’s talent and experience will be a valuable addition to their squad, with Blake concluding, "We believe that we have all the tools here for Julián to build on the quality he already has and we really look forward to welcoming him to Vitality Stadium."
