Tottenham complete signing of Bournemouth striker Solanke
Tottenham Hotspur have officially confirmed the signing of striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth. The 26-year-old forward has penned a contract with Spurs that will keep him at the club until 2030.
Solanke, who began his career at Chelsea, made headlines early in his journey by becoming the club's youngest player to appear in a UEFA Champions League match, debuting against NK Maribor in 2014.
His potential was further recognised when he was loaned to Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem in 2015, where he scored seven goals in 26 appearances.
After returning to Chelsea, Solanke moved to Liverpool in 2017, where he made 27 appearances. His journey continued with a transfer to Bournemouth in January 2019. Over the next few seasons, Solanke became a key figure for the Cherries, notably finishing as their joint top goalscorer in the 2020/21 Championship season.
The following season, 2021/22, proved to be his most successful, as he netted 29 goals in 46 appearances, earning him the Championship’s top scorer title and a place in both the EFL Championship Team of the Year and the PFA Championship Team of the Year. His goalscoring form played a crucial role in securing Bournemouth's promotion to the Premier League.
During his time at Bournemouth, Solanke made 216 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net 77 times. Last season, he featured in every one of Bournemouth's 38 Premier League matches, finishing as the joint fourth highest goalscorer in the league with 19 goals.
On the international stage, Solanke has represented England at various youth levels. He played a role in England's Under-17 UEFA European Championship victory in 2014, finishing as joint top scorer.
Three years later, he was involved in England's triumph at the Under-20 FIFA World Cup, where he was awarded the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player. Solanke made his senior England debut in November 2017 in a friendly against Brazil.
