Stockport County have secured the services of Everton’s Tyler Onyango on a season-long loan.

21-year-old Onyango has joined the team in time for their season opener against Cambridge United this Saturday. The midfielder-turned-centre-half trained with the first team at Carrington for the first time on Friday.

Onyango, who has been with Everton since he was eight, made his professional debut for the Merseyside club in an FA Cup victory over Sheffield Wednesday in 2021.

Later that year, he made his Premier League debut, appearing as a substitute against Manchester City, and featured in matches against Chelsea and Aston Villa during the 2021/22 season.

The young Englishman has gained experience through loan spells at Burton Albion and Forest Green Rovers.

While with Burton, he made 16 league appearances, including 11 starts, before moving to Forest Green Rovers in January, where he was reunited with former Everton youth coach Duncan Ferguson.

Director of Football, Simon Wilson, expressed his confidence in Onyango's fit with the team, saying, “Tyler brings a good deal of quality, physicality, and versatility, which we think will suit our team and the league. We expect him to settle in well, he already knows a good few of the squad, and our character references have been very good. Our thanks go to Everton for their support of the loan deal and for choosing us as the right club for Tyler’s development.”
