Manchester United sign Canadian international Simi Awujo
Manchester United have secured the signing of Canadian international Simi Awujo on a contract extending through the 2026/27 season.
The 20-year-old midfielder makes the move from the United States collegiate system, where she played for the USC Trojans at the University of Southern California.
Awujo, who earned her first senior cap for Canada at just 18, has already made 19 appearances for her country. Most recently, she competed in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Canada reached the quarter-finals.
Speaking about her move, Awujo expressed her excitement, saying, "To say that I’m a professional footballer for Manchester United is insane. I’m so excited for the season ahead, what the future holds here and just to be a Red Devil. I cannot wait to play in front of the great Manchester United fans."
Manchester United manager Marc Skinner also shared his enthusiasm for the new signing, describing Awujo as "an exciting young talent." He added, "Our wonderful fans can expect a midfielder with international pedigree, who will only develop further in our competitive English game."
