Hull City have announced the acquisition of two players, with central defender Finley Burns joining on a season-long loan from Manchester City, and Canada international Liam Millar signing permanently from Basel.

Finley Burns, 21, arrives with an impressive record from his time at Stevenage, where he was named Young Player of the Year after helping the club maintain one of the best defensive records in League One.

Burns, who has also had a loan stint at Swansea City, expressed his excitement about the move. "I can’t wait. I spoke to the manager and we discussed what he wanted from me. It sounded great in what I can learn from him, not only footballing-wise but my understanding of the tactical side," he said.

Burns has played for Manchester City's first team and has represented England at various youth levels.

"I’m versatile. Last year, I started as a centre-back and moved into midfield. I’ll do what’s asked of me and try to help the team," he added.

Joining Burns at Hull is Liam Millar, who has signed a three-year contract with an option for an additional year.

The 24-year-old winger, who spent last season on loan at Preston North End, is eager to make an impact in the Championship.

"I am very happy to be here. It’s been quite a long process to get the deal done. I enjoyed my time at Basel but I was ready to come back to England and continue to show people what I have," Millar said.

Millar, who has earned 32 caps for Canada and played in the 2022 World Cup, spoke about his ambitions and how they align with Hull City's goals.

"The most important thing was finding somewhere with the same ambitions. Speaking with the gaffer and people who run the club, there’s real ambition here," he noted.
