Grimsby Town have secured the loan signing of wide forward Luca Barrington from Brighton & Hove Albion until the end of the season.

Barrington, 19, began his career at Manchester City's academy, joining at just six years old. He signed his first professional contract with City in 2022 after an impressive season, scoring 10 goals in 22 games and contributing to their U18s Premier League title win in the 2021-22 season.

In the summer of 2022, Barrington moved to Brighton and was named on the bench twice last season under the management of Roberto De Zerbi.

Head Coach David Artell expressed his enthusiasm for the new signing: “We’re excited to have Luca – he’s an excellent, technical player who’s going to provide us with something a bit different.”

Artell highlighted Barrington's versatility: “He’s a versatile forward who can play off both flanks and likes to get in behind the opposition. We wanted to strengthen ourselves in that area of the pitch and, technically, he is very good.”

Artell also conveyed his gratitude to Brighton: “We’re really happy to have him here and we’re also thankful to Brighton for allowing Luca to join us.”

Barrington will now join his new Mariners teammates and could be available for their Sky Bet League Two opener against Fleetwood Town on Saturday.
