Norwich City has bolstered its defence by securing Callum Doyle on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

The 20-year-old defender, a product of Manchester City's academy, showcased his skills during the club's pre-season tour this summer.

Doyle, who can play both centre-back and left-back positions, has accumulated significant experience with previous loan spells in the Championship and League One. He made 36 appearances for Sunderland in League One during the 2021/22 season.

His recent campaigns in the Championship saw him contribute to Coventry City and Leicester City. At Leicester, Doyle was part of Enzo Maresca’s squad that clinched the Championship title last season.

On the international stage, Doyle has represented England at various youth levels, earning three caps for the Under-21 team.

Expressing his enthusiasm about joining Norwich, Doyle said, “I’m very excited and glad that it’s finally done. I feel really grateful to be here and can’t wait to get started. I think we can have a really good season here.”

Sporting director Ben Knapper shared his excitement about the signing, stating, “Callum is a player we’ve wanted to bring to the club for some time, and I’m so happy that our patience has been rewarded. We feel he’s a great fit for how we want to play, and he brings with him some fantastic experience at this level for someone who’s still just 20. His pedigree is there for all to see and he’ll be an important player for us this season."
