Jeff King joins Swindon Town after leaving Chesterfield
Swindon Town have announced the signing of defender Jeff King.
King, originally from Liverpool, began his career in non-league football before moving to Bolton Wanderers. He made his professional debut in September 2017 during a match against West Ham United in the EFL Cup.
King’s career saw him spend time in the Scottish Premiership before making a move to National League side FC Halifax Town, which he joined in August 2019.
Over two seasons, King made 68 appearances and scored seven goals, earning the club’s Player of the Season Award and a spot in the National League Team of the Season for 2020-2021.
His performances caught the eye of Chesterfield, who signed him at the start of the 2021-22 season.
At Chesterfield, King was involved in their promotion to League Two last season. He made over 100 appearances and scored 13 goals, earning another place in the National League Team of the Year for 2022-2023.
Expressing his excitement about joining Swindon, King said, “From the moment I came in last week, I felt really at home straight away and had a great feeling about it. I'm really excited now for what's ahead and can't wait to get going here."
"I want to be helping a big club get up the leagues and that is my goal to be part of this squad and hopefully have a little bit of history myself here. I feel like I've got a bit more to give, I've worked really hard to get to where I am today, and I'm really hoping I can do it with Swindon.”
