Watch: St Mochta’s reach Leinster Senior Cup final with penalty shootout win over Drogheda United

Leinster Senior League top-flight outfit St Mochta's have reached the final of the Leinster Senior Cup following a dramatic penalty shootout win over League of Ireland Premier Division side Drogheda United.

Brian McCarthy’s men drew 2-2 with the Boynesiders after 120 minutes before winning 5-3 on penalties at Porterstown Road.

And they had to win the tie with ten-game for vast swathes of the closing stages following defender Ciaran Grogan’s dismissal in the 78th minute.

Mochta’s took the lead in the 31st minute through Dean Casey, with the former Cabinteely winger finishing well from close-range.

Drogheda levelled on the hour mark with Jack Keaney tapping home from a Matthew O’Brien corner-kick.

Kevin Doherty’s side took the lead when Bridel Bosakani scored in the 77th minute, and Mochta’s were reduced to ten a minute later when Grogan was given his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card.

Liam Brady, the brother of Ireland international Robbie, levelled as Mochta's pounced despite playing with a man less to force extra-time.

It stayed that way for the extra 30 minutes.

But it was Mochta’s who progressed on penalties with former Longford Town and Wexford midfielder Aaron Robinson slotting home the winning effort after Adam Hayden heroically saved a Warren Davis spot-kick to seize the initiative.

Mochta's will play the winners of the other semi-final between St Patrick's Athletic and Maynooth University Town.
