French midfielder Varane moves to QPR from Sporting Gijón
Jonathan Varane, a 22-year-old midfielder, has finalised a permanent move to Queens Park Rangers from Sporting Gijón.
Varane, who began his career at French club Lens before transferring to Sporting Gijón two years ago, expressed his enthusiasm about the move to England.
"I am very happy and excited to be joining this historic club," Varane stated.
He emphasised the positive impact this transfer will have on his career, adding, "I think for my career this is a good step and I am excited to meet my new team-mates, join the group and start with the club."
Varane highlighted his awareness of QPR's playing style and expressed confidence in his ability to fit in.
"I know the style of QPR and I think for me it is a good move to continue my career here," he explained.
Last season, Varane made 25 appearances across all competitions for Sporting Gijón in Spain's second tier.
He described his playing style, saying, "I like to defend, I like winning balls, giving passes and progressing with the ball on the ground. I think the Championship will be very good for me."
Having trained with Sporting Gijón, Varane arrives at QPR ready to contribute immediately.
"I am going to give 100% for the club, my team-mates and the coach. I want to complete the objectives of the club and I will give all I can to do it," he asserted.
Reflecting on the significance of the move, Varane added, "This is a dream for me so I can’t wait."
