Borussia Dortmund sign Yan Couto on loan from Manchester City
Borussia Dortmund have secured the services of Brazilian full-back Yan Couto from Manchester City on a loan deal extending until 30 June 2025.
Should specific performance conditions be met, the agreement includes an option for a permanent transfer.
Couto, who debuted for Brazil in October 2023, has played four matches for his national team.
Over the past two seasons, he was loaned to Girona in La Liga, contributing 2 goals and 12 assists in 59 games.
The 22-year-old flew from Sao Paulo to Zurich on Friday, undergoing a medical examination in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland, where Dortmund is conducting their summer training camp. Couto, who will don the number 2 jersey.
"Yan Couto was on our radar even before he won the U17 World Cup with Brazil in 2019," said Lars Ricken, Borussia Dortmund’s Managing Director for Sport.
"He has the potential to be a very special player, with outstanding pace, technique, and creativity – he’s the kind of player fans come to watch. He’s very young with a lot still to learn, but we’re confident that he can follow in the footsteps of special Brazilian players like Júlio César, Dedé and Márcio Amoroso at Dortmund."
