Portsmouth complete transfer of Elias Sørensen from Esbjerg
Portsmouth have signed Danish striker Elias Sørensen from Esbjerg for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old, a former Denmark under-21 international, will don the number 18 shirt. Sørensen has agreed to a three-year contract, with an option for an additional year.
Blues manager John Mousinho expressed his excitement about the new acquisition.
"Elias is an incredibly talented young centre-forward with plenty of potential. He’s already experienced English football and then had significant success in Denmark, especially last season."
Mousinho highlighted Sørensen's dynamic playing style.
"We’re excited by his energy – he’s a real livewire – and, of course, the assists and goals he has in his arsenal. He’s a threat on the shoulder and also very capable with his back to goal, so we’re delighted to welcome Elias to the club."
Sørensen started his career with HB Køge in Denmark, becoming the club’s youngest-ever player in 2016. After a successful trial, he moved to Newcastle United, spending loan spells at Blackpool, Carlisle, and Dutch side Almere City.
In 2021, Sørensen returned to Denmark to join Esbjerg, where he played a role in their third-tier title win last season.
He was the league's top scorer, netting 24 goals in 30 matches, and also provided 12 assists, earning him the Player of the Season award.
