League Preview: Cobh Ramblers -v- Longford Town

COBH RAMBLERS

Cobh Ramblers will be keen to keep their playoff hopes alive on Friday night when they host Longford Town (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

Ramblers are just five points behind fifth-placed Finn Harps with a game in hand on the Co Donegal side.

But they face a Longford side who they are yet to beat this season

“The results between the teams have been mixed all season. We’re coming up against a Longford side who we haven’t beaten this season,” Cobh manager Gary Hunt said.

“We know that we need to be beating the teams below us if we want to reach the playoffs.”

LONGFORD TOWN

Basement side Longford Town will be chasing their first win in three games when they visit St Colman’s Park.

The Red and Black have been beaten by Athlone Town (4-1), Galway United (6-0) and UCD (2-1) since winning away to Bray Wanderers last month.

Their most recent defeat was against UCD at home - but they can take positives from aspects of their performance.

Wayne Groves’ side took the lead before being undone at home, with Bastien Hery scoring.

Since then, they have signed winger Jamal Ibrahim from local rivals Athlone until the end of the season. Midfielder Mo Boudiaf is back from suspension.

Referee: Alan Franklin.
